My new favorite thing about Halloween …

Latest edition of parents lying to their children about eating all of their Halloween candy. You have to watch ALL of them. 🙂

Sorry Miley, you’re not even on my radar this Halloween

When I found out that Miley Cyrus topped the list of 2013 costume favorites, I was not just disappointed; I was horrified. Thanks to the Huffington Post, all hope is not lost.

These are without a doubt the best costumes I’ve ever seen. I regret not finding these out sooner. Oh well, there’s always next year! 🙂

No reason … just because

For no particular reason, I cannot stop laughing at this. It seems the more you watch it, the funnier it gets.

Halloween delights

In light of my more sullen posts lately, I thought I’d write another recipe feature. Whenever the holidays are approaching, I like to look at fun, themed recipes; good ones can be difficult to find though.

However, I have began to find that Facebook pages have awesome collections! Here are a couple of neat halloween treats! For more, I would suggest visiting Tamra Hermosillo’s page on FB and following. You won’t regret it!

Mummy Balls!

  • 1pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
  • 36 OREO Cookies or Golden OREO Cookies finely crushed
  • 14oz. BAKER’S White Chocolate,
  • Suggested decorations: chocolate sprinkles, miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips or colored decors.

Mix cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended. Shape into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Meanwhile, melt 12 oz. white chocolate as directed on package. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place in single layer on waxed paper-covered rimmed baking sheet. (Re-freeze balls if they become too soft to dip.) Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Melt remaining chocolate as directed on package; spoon into small resealable plastic bag. Press out excess air from bag; seal bag. Cut 1/8-inch piece from one bottom corner of bag. Squeeze bag to pipe chocolate onto each ball for the mummy’s eyes; immediately add desired decorations for the eyeballs. Pipe remaining chocolate onto balls to resemble gauze strips. Refrigerate until firm.

For mini carmel apples, use a small scoop to cut out rounded balls and dip in carmel.

Squirmy Worms!

Image

  • 2 packs (3 oz) Raspberry jello
  • 1 pkg unflavored gelatin (for extra firmness)
  • 3/4 cup whipping cream
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 15 drops green food coloring•100 flexible straws (or enough to fill your container)
  • Tall container (1 quart or 1 liter carton of milk)

Combine gelatin in bowl and add boiling water. Let it cool to lukewarm and then add the whipping cream and 15 drops green food coloring. Gather your straws (don’t forget to flex them out) and put them in the container. It’s important that the straws have a tight fit so the jello stays in the straws. For this reason, a 1 liter carton may be better; you will probably get longer worms since there is a tighter fit. If you have a bigger container, a rubber band around the straws is helpful. Or you could just add more straws to fill the container. Add the gelatin mixture to the straw-filled container and let it set until firm. There are multiple ways you can remove the worms from the straws. You can roll a rolling pin over the straws and squeeze them out or you can hold the straws over warm water. The worms will slip right out.
